Children's Garden Receives Outstanding Community Partner Award

The Children's Garden received recognition from local non-profit Teens in Public Service.

Seattle Tilth’s Children’s Garden has been recognized as the 2009 Outstanding Community Partner for the organization Teens in Public Service. The recognition was announced at TIPS' annual “Great People Doing Great Things” luncheon.

Teens In Public Service is a Seattle-based nonprofit that teaches youth the importance of caring for one another through work opportunities with local area non-profits, who receive the youth interns at no charge.

TIPS interns have worked with Seattle Tilth each summer for  the past decade, assisting the staff with a program that provides early hands-on gardening opportunities to children from all walks of life, creating future stewards of the Earth.

“The TIPS event is about recognizing, publicly, role models who demonstrate the importance of caring for one another and our environment, both locally and globally,” said Maureen Brotherton, founder of TIPS.
