Mission, Vision & Programs
An overview of Seattle Tilth with links to key programs.
The mission of Seattle Tilth is to inspire and educate people to garden organically, conserve natural resources and support local food systems in order to cultivate a healthy urban environment and community. Our vision is to transform the NW region into the organic gardening capital of the world.
We are cultivating a sustainable city, one garden at a time, through several programs. Learn more about all of our programs here:
- Classes for Adults. Learn about organic gardening, composting, and raising backyard chickens & goats.
- The Children's Garden offers hands-on educational programs for school groups and families during the school year and summer camps for kids.
- The Garden Hotline will answer your garden and resource conservation questions.
- Master Composter/Soil Builder Program provides compost education throughout the city.
- Our Demonstration Gardens in north and south Seattle demonstrate organic gardening techniques with signs for a self-guided tour.
- Seattle Tilth events are a great way to meet people and learn something new. Check out Seattle Tilth's Edible Plant Sale the first week of May, the Chicken Coop Tour in July, and Seattle Tilth's Harvest Fair in early September.
- Volunteer! We provide many volunteer opportunities in all of our programs.
- The Maritime Northwest Garden Guide is an essential garden manual for Pacific NW gardeners, with organic gardening tips for every month of the year.
