Volunteer Opportunities

Get involved, meet people, and learn new skills as a volunteer!

Volunteers are essential to the success of Seattle Tilth! 

Build professional and personal skills, meet people and contribute to the community while volunteering at Seattle Tilth. Interested? Please follow these steps:

  1. Complete a volunteer application.
  2. Next, attend a Volunteer Orientation in Seattle or Issaquah.
  3. Review current volunteer and intern positions (follow heading links for more information):

CURRENT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

  • Harvest Fair
    Participate in our annual community celebration on September 11.
  • Garden Volunteers
    Learn organic gardening techniques and practice them in our learning gardens - currently needed at Rainier Beach and in Issaquah.
  • Children's Garden Naturalists
    Dig in the dirt while leading educational adventures with kids! No gardening or teaching experience necessary, just enthusiasm, a sense of humor and a desire to work with children.
  • Rainier Beach Learning Garden
    Lend a hand as we expand one of our newest community learning gardens located in the Rainier Beach neighborhood.

INTERNSHIPS

Have a deeper learning experience, make a more significant contribution and possibly earn school internship credit!

  • Garden Steward Internship in Issaquah
    Learn about organic food production and sustainable landscape management while building leadership skills.

  • Salesforce Intern
    Help integrate our current systems into the Salesforce data management platform, research new applications and maximize their utilization.
  • Administrative Office Intern
    Learn about the inner workings of a non-profit organization while gaining administrative experience in a non-profit.   Opportunity for school credit; 5 hours/week minimum commitment.

FALL OPPORTUNITIES

  • Children's Garden Internships
    Find out about teaching, administrative and gardener internships for the Children's Garden program this fall. Applications due Aug. 2.
  • Communications Intern
    Assist with marketing activities such as updating our website and creating fliers, newsletter items and press releases. Great opportunity for school internship credit; 8 hours/week minimum for 3+ months.  Send your resume and cover letter to lizaburke@seattletilth.org.
  • Children's Garden Naturalists
    Dig in the dirt while leading educational adventures with kids! No gardening or teaching experience necessary, just enthusiasm, a sense of humor and a desire to work with children.
  • Adult Education Administrative Intern
    Support our adult classes. Opportunity for school credit; 10-15 hours/week commitment
  • The Handyperson Crew
    This group meets on a project-by-project basis to help maintain and create infrastructure. Hardscaping, wood, stone, electrical and plumbing skills are welcome! Make note on your application about your skills and interests.

WINTER OPPORTUNITIES:

  • Master Composter/Soil Builders
    Receive in-depth compost education with a team of diverse Seattle residents, then share your valuable knowledge and experience with the wider community. Applications available and due sometime during winter.
