Volunteer Opportunities

Get involved, meet people, and learn new skills as a volunteer

Volunteers are essential to the success of Seattle Tilth!
Build professional and personal skills, meet people and contribute to the community while volunteering at Seattle Tilth.  Interested?  Follow these steps:

    1. Please complete a required Volunteer/Intern Registration Form.
    2. Next, attend a required Volunteer Orientation.

Volunteer by Interest


          COOKING AND NUTRITION
          • Community Kitchens Northwest (CKNW)
            Help bring people together to cook and eat as a community. Participate in community dinners, lead after school cooking clubs, and assist with trainings for community partners. By sharing cooking skills, nutrition knowledge and food traditions, CKNW gives people the tools they need to eat well every day. For more information contact lauramcgrath@seattletilth.org.

          • Community Kitchens Tool Library Procurement Volunteer
            This position will oversee all aspects of donation procurement for to develop a Tool Library as a resource for sharing cooking equipment.  Ensure that all donation procurement planning, execution, and follow-up is conducted in a timely basis. 4-6 hours per week, with a 6 week minimum commitment.         FARM AND GARDEN
          • Just Garden Project
            Help build raised bed gardens for low-income communities! No experience necessary, all materials and training provided. For more details contact stephanieseliga@seattletilth.org.

          • Veggie Crews: April-October
            Each year garden volunteers grow hundreds of pounds of organic produce that we donate to local food banks, support our education program, and sustainably maintain our community learning gardens in North and South Seattle. 
            • Drop-in Work Parties

              Learn about organic food growing techniques while maintaining our farms and gardens.  Work parties happen weekly in Wallingford, SE Seattle and Issaquah.

            • Garden Steward

              Learn about sustainable landscape management and organic food gardening while practicing leadership skills in one of Seattle Tilth's gardens. 3-10 hours per week.

              FOOD DISTRIBUTION
                • Good Food Bag Volunteer
                  Help make good food from local farmers more accessible in the community! Volunteers needed to pack Good Food Bags, a subsidized weekly bag of sustainable, fresh produce sourced from local farmers. Contact jessicabitting@seattletilth.org.
                  Thursdays: 10 a.m.-noon - Packing at Rainier Beach Urban Farm & Wetlands.
              TEACHING
              ADMINISTRATIVE/OUTREACH/ EVENTS
                • Community Outreach Team
                  Join our outreach team, and get trained on all of the things Seattle Tilth does.
                  Do outreach and tabling at community events and talk to interested people about Seattle Tilth's work, programs, opportunities, and ways to get involved. Contact emilygordon@seattletilth.org.   

                • Street Promotions Team
                  Help distribute postcards and posters for our events! Pick an area of your choice and ask permission from businesses. Visit libraries, rec centers, coffee shops, bars etc. Contact lizaburke@seattletilth.org.
                • Events Support
                  Provide support to Seattle Tilth's events team for our Gala Auction by helping with item procurement and donor outreach, assisting with auction database, providing outreach to potential attendees, helping coordinate logistics, and coordinating with staff and volunteers to create a successful event. 5-10 hours/week.
