Learn about the basic requirements needed to build a backyard coop. Landscape designer Jennifer Carlson will present design ideas, materials resources, and practical considerations for creating a useful, comfortable, well-sited coop.

You'll see dozens of landscape designs from basic to elaborate. This class will be limited to 25 people so early registration is recommended.

The class will take place at Jennifer Carlson's private residence where you can see her chicken coop that was originally built as a demonstration coop for the 2000 NW Flower and Garden Show.  It was designed for small urban gardens to accommodate three hens, and has a total of five modules that can be moved from one area of the garden to another.  A chicken tractor is also attached that allows "The girls" to scratch, dust bathe, and eat all of the grass from one area of the garden. The coop has been featured in the book, "Chicken Coops", by Judy Pangman. Coop plans are available through Tilth.

Cost: $25.00 for Tilth Members, $35.00 for Non-Tilth Members
