The COG Program is an intensive program teaching organic vegetable gardening methods and practice. The curriculum merges scientific and practical information with an emphasis on experiential learning and hands-on practice. This unique and popular course is designed to give the beginning gardener an introduction into the dynamic world of organic gardening and an opportunity to get their hands dirty in the process! From the COG program, students can expect to learn all of the basic concepts involved in organic food gardening including building healthy soil, garden planning and crop rotation, planting techniques, season extension and other methods for gardening year round, organic pest and disease control, water conservation and seed saving.  By the end of class participants should be ready to install and plant a veggie garden!

The class includes evening lectures on Wednesdays, 2/24, 3/3, 3/10 and 3/17, from 7 pm to 9 pm in the Senior Center, room 140, in the Good Shepherd Center in Wallingford. Students also register for weekend hands-on classes at one of two sites:
Good Shepherd Center in Wallingford on Saturdays, 2/27 - 3/13, from 10am to 3pm. This location is now full!
OR
Bradner Gardens Park in the Mt. Baker neighborhood on Sundays, 2/28 - 3/14, from 10am - 3pm.

We only offer registration by mail for this class. Please download a registration form and mail it in or drop it by our office.  When registering, please specify if you would like the Good Shepherd or Bradner location for the weekend hands-on classes.  Students must choose one or the other and cannot switch between sites or dates for any reason.  Each hands-on class is limited to 22 participants.

Cost: $235 for Tilth members, $275 non-members. Advance registration and payment is required. Some scholarship assistance is available. Email Carrie Niskanen at the address above for more details and a scholarship application.
