Explore organic gardening basics, outdoor education techniques and ways to integrate the garden with classroom curriculum.
Through a combination of lecture and hands-on activities we teach participants about organic gardening, garden design, team building, program development, nutrition, cooking, art in the garden, and more. Teams of three or more people from a school or garden project are encouraged to attend this workshop to best strengthen your program. There is still room the Garden Educator Workshop; see registration details below.
Fall Educator's Workshop
This three part series will provide educators, parents and community volunteers the essentials for cultivating and maintaining a schoolyard garden. Teachers will receive 32 clock hours for their participation in the fall workshop. Clock hour details will be included in your registration confirmation.
Part 1: Intro to Organic Schoolyard Gardening, Oct. 23rd, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Part 2: The Garden Classroom, Oct. 30th, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Part 3: Curriculum Working Group, Nov. 20th, 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
LOCATION: The Good Shepherd Center; 4649 Sunnyside Ave. N., Room 202, Seattle, WA 98103
COST: $120 for all three workshops or $40 per workshop. Advance registration and payment is required.
