Learn a revolutionary new way of teaching! Apply the principles of Permaculture to the teaching of Permaculture. In this fun, interactive course, you will learn powerful techniques gleaned from the wisdom of experienced Permaculture teachers from around the globe.

What’s special about this Permaculture Teacher Training Course?
This is a 7-day residential Permaculture course. We will cover every aspect of being an exciting and effective Permaculture educator. It's located at Seattle Tilth Farm Works Farm in Auburn, WA a beautiful farm setting.

Some of what you will learn:

  • Building confidence through practice and supportive critique. Everyone will have several opportunities to teach in this workshop, to see themselves on film and improve in a supportive environment.
  • Teaching methods that work - you will learn at least 5 new teaching techniques, and will develop new creative ideas of your own! These innovative teaching methods work, and they teach Permaculture while modeling Permaculture principles.
  • A simple technique to help you prepare quickly and thoroughly. We will cover the preparation techniques that professional teachers and consultants use to quickly organize their thoughts and materials.Permaculture Hilltop

This is a residential course that will take place at Red Barn Ranch, home of Seattle Tilth Farm Works. Tuition is $975 and includes delicious meals and snacks made from freshly harvested and mostly organic foods, bunk lodging, 7 days of instruction, insight, connection, fun and optional evening programs. Class materials, handouts and the 200+ page Permaculture Curriculum (with  all of the secrets to the realm!) will also be provided.

About the Instructors:
Kat Steele is a Permaculture activist, designer, and educator. Founder of the Urban Permaculture Guild in Oakland, Calif., she facilitates workshops on sustainability, natural building, and Permaculture, and speaks about urban eco-social design, City Repair, and the power of placemaking.

Benjamin Fahrer is an internationally recognized Permaculture designer, educator, and farmer. A community organizer and progressive organic farmer, he has worked intimately with front-line organizations, nonprofits, and communities throughout California. Ben is on the staff of the Esalen Farm and Garden.

Local Permaculture instructors will be also be teaching parts of this course.

Pre-requisite

Participants should have obtained a Permaculture Design Certificate from completion of a Permaculture Design Course. If you have questions about pre-requisites, contact careythornton@seattletilth.org.

Cost

$975.  Advance registration and payment are required.  Payment plans may be available.

To cancel your registration, please notify Seattle Tilth by phone (206) 633-0451 ext. 101 or email carrievogelzang@seattletilth.org. Full refunds minus the $150 non-refundable deposit will be given up to 2 weeks prior to the start of class only.  Refund requests made less than 2 weeks prior to class will only be honored, less the $150 non-refundable deposit, if the space is able to be filled by another paying student.  There are absolutely no refunds once the course has begun.
