Learn to garden with your preschooler.
Explore the family organic garden in these theme-based one day sessions. Learn what to plant and how to work together to grow your own garden. These classes introduce children and parents to insects, flowers and the garden world. Each session includes gardening, an art project, stories, and yummy snacks! These camps take place at the Rainier Beach Learning Garden behind South Shore School.
Cost
$25 or $20 Seattle Tilth members; registration fee is for one child and accompanying adult.
Days & Themes
Get Dirty!
- Thurs., June 28; 10 a.m.-noon
- All gardening, all the time. Practice real gardening skills and use every tool in the shed. Learn tool safety and how to use a wide variety of hand tools. Dig a giant hole!
Bug School
- Thurs., July 12; 10 a.m.-noon
- Insects are our friends. Dive into a fantastic exploration of garden insects. Learn anatomy, build bug houses, and discover how to invite beneficial insects to your own garden.
Fantastic Flowers
- Thurs., Aug 16; 10 a.m.-noon
- Flowers are fantastic! They provide beauty and attract many beneficial insects to our gardens. Taste edible flowers and make an outrageous bouquet. Plant flower seeds to grow in your own garden.
Ladybug Picnic
- Thurs., August 23; 10 a.m.-noon
- Ladybugs of all shapes and sizes come to feast. Learn to identify and attract ladybugs to your garden. Discover the ladybug life cycle, learn insect anatomy and invite a ladybug to tea!
