Summer Camps Ages 6-10 at Good Shepherd Center
Find out about summer garden camps at the Good Shepherd Center.
Kids spend five days learning practical garden skills while exploring the plants and animals that live in Seattle Tilth’s gardens and Meridian Park. They learn about insects, vegetables, soil and worms while playing games, making art, reading stories, singing songs, and running through the sprinklers. Campers will be entering 1st – 4th grade in fall 2012 (or equivalent).

Days & Themes
Wild and Medicinal Plants
- Mon.-Fri., June 25–29; 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Explore traditional materials and methods used by early settlers and first people. Learn the lore and medicinal uses of common weeds and native plants. Create a naturalist’s journal to keep recipes and memories. Campers will be entering grades1–4 in fall 2012 (or equivalent).
Garden Detectives
- Mon.-Fri., July 9-13; 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Discover explore the insects and creatures living in the garden. Hone your urban tracking skills. Find creature habitats. Plant seeds and tend the garden. Keep a garden journal to track your discoveries.
Plant Planet
- Mon.-Fri., July 30-Aug. 3; 9 a.m.-3 p.m.
- Now is the perfect time to plant your fall and winter garden. Set up a plant nursery, plant seed flats and take seeds home to grow. Create your own seed catalog and garden journal.
Dirt Made My Lunch
- Mon.-Fri., August 13–17; 9 a.m-3 p.m.
- Discover the magic of compost and our worm bins. Harvest veggies from the garden and cook them up into tasty snacks. Use tools to tend the garden. Learn where our food comes from and how it grows.
