Mobile Garden Classroom

We bring our garden curriculum to your classroom!

Fulfill science requirements and choose from these dynamic lessons: "Soil In A Box," "Worms on Wheels," "Use it or Lose it" and "Mighty Arthropods."  Presentations are 45-50 minutes long and involve all students in an inquiry-based science lesson.  

Choose a TopicInvestigating Soil

"Soil in a Box" is an interactive, hands-on classroom presentation that enhances 1st-5th grade science units. We answer the question "what is soil?" and explore the living creatures that make rich garden soil. Appropriate for up to 30 students; 1st-5th grade.

"Worms on Wheels" is an interactive, hands-on classroom presentation that teaches the importance of compost and the role of red wiggler worms. We explore what soil is made of, food waste collection, worm anatomy and living creatures that make rich garden soil. Appropriate for up to 24 students;preK-5th grade.

"Use It or Lose It" is an interactive, hands-on classroom presentation explores waste reduction and recycling concepts and provides practical applications for classroom and household resource conservation. Use it or Lose it is intended to be a follow-up to Soil in a Box. Appropriate for up to 30 students; 1st-6th grade.

"Mighty Arthropods" is an interactive classroom presentation that teaches about different bugs that can be found in the garden or backyard environment. We learn about the characteristics that all arthropods share and then learn about how spiders, isopods, myriapods and insects live and grow. Appropriate for up to 30 students; preK-6th grade.

Dates & Times Mobile Garden Classroom

We are available to come to your classroom Wednesday, Thursdays and Fridays, September - December and January- June. 

Cost

  • $140 per lesson; $95 per lesson for two or more consecutive lessons at the same school.
  • Note: If your school is in Issaquah School District, these lessons are free thanks to funding from the City of Issaquah and the King Conservation District.
