Volunteer Coordinator for Edible Plant Sale
We are looking for a volunteer to coordinate volunteers for our annual Edible Plant Sale happening May 2 and 3rd 2009.

Temporary Volunteer Position
March through mid-May 2009
Approx. 40-50 hours

The volunteer coordinator will be in charge of recruiting and scheduling over 200 volunteers for Seattle Tilth’s Plant Sale. The plant sale is our biggest fundraiser event of the year, and we rely heavily on volunteers to make it a success. You will receive an Excel spreadsheet with the list of shifts that need to be filled and use this format for scheduling this year’s volunteers. Your primary way of communicating with volunteers will be via email and phone and we will set up systems for this.
Responsibilities
- Scheduling volunteers for the Edible Plant Sale
- Answering initial volunteer inquiries and finding appropriate shifts
- Regularly checking phone messages and returning phone calls
- Returning volunteer email inquiries in a timely manner
- Updating a list of open shifts for the website 2-3 times leading up to the event
- Ideally, be available to work at the Volunteer Booth during the event on May 2 and 3
- Leading up to the event, be responsible for checking in with Tilth staff about questions, concerns and regular updates about the status of filled volunteer shifts
Requirements
- Good organizational and communication skills
- Friendly and supportive
- Volunteer coordinating background preferred
- Experience using Excel and Word
Volunteer schedule benchmark goals:
Schedule is 50% filled by March 27
Schedule is 75% filled by April 10
Schedule is 100% filled by April 24
